About the club

Playing in Teplice since 1951

The club was started by a group of tennis enthusiasts around JUDr. Jaroslav Kurz. Plenty of well-known players have passed through since — and, above all, several generations of local children.

Today we are an association of about 130 members. We run both recreational and competitive tennis across all age groups, from the lowest class up to the North Bohemian division. We host national tournaments for ranked players and open events for recreational ones.

The venue is open to visitors too. Anyone can rent a court, the terrace serves food and drinks, and the hall keeps running through January.

Our aim isn't only to produce players. It's a place children want to come back to — and where they happen to learn tennis.LTC Panorama executive committee

Tennis history

Short reads for the clubhouse

The ball

Leather, moss and fig leaves

The first balls were sewn from leather and stuffed with whatever came to hand — moss, bamboo fibre, even fig leaves.

Strings

What to string a racquet with

The problem never changed: withstand enormous tension and still return energy to the ball. The road from natural gut to polyester was a long one.

Method

From mini tennis to baby tennis

A gradually bigger court and softer balls. With the right coaching the transition takes only a few weeks.

Booking

Courts are booked by phone

Individual hours are booked with the grounds manager or at the refreshment bar, where payments are taken too. There is almost always a court free — for the hall it pays to call ahead.
